2025 Fantasy Outlook
Anthony is not the consensus No. 1 overall prospect, but his credentials stack up with any prospect in the minors and he should make his big-league debut early this season. He won't turn 21 until May, but Anthony already cuts an imposing figure at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. After playing 10 games at Double-A to close 2023, Anthony returned there and got off to a slow start, but he seemed to improve with each passing month, culminating with a dominant 35-game run at Triple-A to close the year. All told, Anthony slashed .291/.396/.498 with 18 home runs, 21 steals, an excellent 34.6 hard-hit rate and a passable 23.7 percent strikeout rate in 119 games. His walk rate jumped from 12.8 percent to 18.9 percent after the jump to Triple-A, while his strikeout rate improved from 25.5 percent to 18.9 percent, so his improving contact skill and swing decisions allow for a wide range of outcomes as a rookie. In Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu and Masataka Yoshida, it seems Boston has four players for the three outfield spots and designated hitter, so an offseason trade would be needed for Anthony to have an obvious spot in the Opening Day lineup. Long term, Anthony could profile similarly to the MVP version of Christian Yelich if he reaches his ceiling. Read Past Outlooks

Legs out double, scores lone run
OFBoston Red Sox
July 13, 2025
Anthony went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Saturday's 1-0 win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis
Anthony extended his hit streak to eight games in the fourth inning, when he legged out a double on a ball hit to right field with an exit velocity of 103.4 mph. With Masataka Yoshida back on the roster and most likely starting at DH, Boston's crowded outfield mix could change on a daily basis, with Ceddanne Rafaela moving from center field to second base Saturday to accommodate Anthony, Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu. Anthony has made an impressive adjustment to MLB pitching. After batting .114 over his first 15 games in the majors, he's hit safely in 13 of his last 14 starts, posting a .379/.438/.534 slash line with seven extra-base hits, eight RBI and 13 runs scored during that stretch.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Anthony received a $2.5 million bonus, roughly three times the slot value, after the Red Sox selected him out of high school with the No. 79 overall pick in the 2022 draft. He came into 2023 with some deep sleeper buzz and shattered all expectations during a three-level climb from Single-A to Double-A. Anthony doesn't turn 20 until May, so the fact he has already excelled at High-A (164 wRC+) and during a brief run at Double-A (185 wRC+) is a promising indicator. The 6-foot-2 outfielder's 37.1 Hard% would be an elite mark for any minor-league hitter, yet Anthony posted it while being 2-to-5 years younger than most of the pitchers he faced. His strikeout rate spiked at High-A (30.6%) while it was below 20 percent at every other stop, but his batted-ball profile (45.3 GB%, 38.8 Pull%, 3.1 IFFB%) and power production was best at High-A. He eased hit tool concerns by hitting .333 with a 23.6 K% and 13.0 BB% over the final month. Once an above-average runner, Anthony has slowed down as he's filled out, and he only stole five bases on six attempts in 64 games at High-A and Double-A, despite getting on base 42 percent of the time. The lefty hitter was significantly better against righties (.892 OPS, 23.2 K%) than against lefties (.753 OPS, 29.3 K%), but that's just a small thing to monitor in the coming years. With a strong season, Anthony could get the call in late August while preserving his rookie eligibility for 2025.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
No progess in extension talks
OFBoston Red Sox
July 5, 2025
There hasn't been any progress between Anthony and the Red Sox regarding a potential contract extension for the outfielder, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com.
Analysis
There has been a lot of extension speculation surrounding the star prospect, but Anthony said the topic hasn't even been discussed since he got promoted to the bigs. A 21-year-old outfielder who's enjoying his first taste of action in the majors, he's slated to hit the open market after the 2031 season. He'd be 27 years old by that time, which would be the beginning of his prime years.
