Cell

intelligence

Applying advanced diagnostic techniques and machine learning to unlock a cell's full potential at any stage of its life. Optimising performance, reducing cost, and improving safety for any cell.

Advanced

diagnostics

Sention utilises its proprietary acoustic imaging and electrochemical characterisation techniques to deliver unique insights. By integrating these methods with X-ray computed tomography and thermal imaging, we can 'look inside' electrochemical devices, measuring critical physical, structural, and chemical properties that influence their performance, quality, and safety.

Data analytics

and AI

The full power of Sention's measurement technologies is realised in how  data is utilised.
Our blend of proprietary data and machine-learning algorithms, combined with Sention's cloud-based analytics platform, allow insights that are invaluable to developers, manufacturers, regulators and circular economy solution providers.

Impact through intelligence

Sention seeks to empower the electrochemical industry to produce better and safer products in greater quantities to meet the demands of the energy transition.

Starting with the battery industry, we are revolutionising how measurements, data and AI are leveraged to reduce time to market, improve yield, quality and safety.

Testing

& development

Sention’s measurement solutions shorten the design-build-test cycle. They provide an understanding of how cells degrade and fail which is key to designing better, safer and lower-cost systems.  Our ultrasound, X-ray imaging, thermal and electrochemical test solutions can be deployed in R&D laboratories individually, or in combination, to provide information on components or operational cells.

Manufacturing

The right measurement approach with the required speed and resolution is the cornerstone of effective quality control, cell grading and failure prediction. Our product range can be dispatched at different stages in the manufacturing process, realising a no-fault forward (NFF) total quality strategy. This can dramatically reduce waste and avoid costly product recalls.

On-board

and in the field

Sention will equip the maintenance professionals of the future with the measurement tools required for regulatory testing and to diagnose and repair systems in service centres and in the field.  Our unique insight into device operation combined with machine-learning algorithms allows us to teach next-generation battery management systems (BMS) to have predictive safety capabilities.

Circular economy

and end-of-life

Realising a circular economy for batteries and e-chem technologies requires reliable cell evaluation following first-life operation. Our products provide a fast and accurate indication of performance and internal structure, allowing decisions to be made about the next stage of life and the safety implications of cell processing or re-use.  We can also undertake digital teardowns for patent infringement investigation and postmortem failure analysis.

Faster time to market.

Sention's measurement solutions significantly reduce design-build-test cycles, leading to faster time-to-market. Our proprietary characterisation methods, underpinned by our advanced acoustic technology, provide unique and deeper insights throughout all stages of device development. This accelerates the optimisation of both development and manufacturing processes, resulting in rapid, high quality cell production.

Improve safety.

The current battery market is flooded with low-quality cells, posing serious safety risks and potential cost and reputation challenges for manufacturers and integrators. Sention's proprietary characterisation technologies and analytics can substantially improve cell quality, reducing risks for manufacturers, integrators, and end users. Additionally, Sention's acoustic technology potentially enables on-board analytics, offering continuous data on cell health and the ability to predict potential issues before they arise.

Ensure Quality.

Battery integrators face constant uncertainty about the cells they purchase and integrate. Current quality control relies on aggregate tests like voltage decay or open circuit voltage (OCV), which lack the granularity to detect subtle defects or variations of defects within individual cells. Sention’s acoustic technology provides precise, spatially resolved data on cell integrity and performance, allowing early issue detection and ensuring greater reliability in the final product.
