Exclusive: Fred Davis leaving CODE Advisors

FORTUNE — Fred Davis is leaving CODE Advisors, the popular tech and media-focused investment bank that he co-founded in 2010 with Quincy Smith and Michael Marquez, Fortune has learned from multiple sources.

No word yet on his future plans, but speculation is that New York-based Davis will do something related to the music industry. Before helping to launch CODE, he was an executive vice president at EMI Records, and went on to found music law firm Davis, Shapiro, Lewit, Montone & Hayes. Plus, his father is noted producer and music executive Clive Davis.

Neither Davis nor CODE are commenting on the split.

Code Advisors launched with three clients: CBS, Comcast and Spotify. It since has participated in all sorts of high-profile transactions, including as an underwriter on the Twitter (TWTR) IPO, helping launch Re/Code and advising Jawbone on an unusual debt financing package that included participation from J.P. Morgan (which invested $25 million into CODE in 2012). It also has made several investments, including in blogging platform Medium.
