Engagement
2022
Understanding
how
the
news
was
pitched

The
specific
news
topics
analyzed
for
this
report
include:
Overview
With
another
crazy
year
in
the
books,
it's
important
for
PR
people
to
understand
how
this
all
played
out
in
the
world
of
media
relations.
For
this
report,
we
analyzed
1.7
million
PR
pitches
sent
via
the
Propel
platform
to
provide
a
detailed
picture
of
how
the
events
most
affecting
humanity,
from
war
to
economic
turbulence,
were
pitched
to
and
received
by
the
media.
Looking
at
approximately
1.7
million
anonymized
PR
pitches
sent
to
journalists
via
the
platform
from
January
to
December,
2022,
we
found
several
interesting
trends
in
how
PR
pros
were
using
various
news
stories
as
hooks
for
their
pitching
initiatives.
To
arrive
at
such
findings,
we
focused
in
on
key
words
and
phrases
from
several
of
the
largest
news
stories
of
the
year
and
looked
to
see
how
news
stories
around
those
topics
were
being
pitched.
We
certainly
didn't
study
all
major
events,
but
dialed
in
on
a
few
key
topics
from
the
year.
War
The
economic
downturn
Key
elections
