Des Moines Police respond to more than 560 firework-related calls

Fireworks complaints kept the Des Moines Police Department busy over the Independence Day weekend.

They say officers responded to 184 fireworks complaints on Saturday, and 385 on Sunday.

Police say two people were given fireworks-related citations on Sunday.

One person, 38-year-old LaMonte Calaway, was arrested on July 4 near the intersection of SE 1st and Marion Street on the charges of Public Intoxication and Lighting Consumer Fireworks within the city limits.
