MERIDIAN, Idaho (CBS2) — The West Ada School District is tapping into the parental pool to help fill open substitute teacher positions.
A district spokesperson told CBS2 on Wednesday that the substitute coordinator recently went to the area high schools -- Meridian High, Centennial, Owyhee and Rocky Mountain to host some orientations with parents to make it easier for them to substitute.
At Owyhee, the principal had about a dozen parents show up for the schools orientation. They then went to the district office for orientation, fingerprints and to fill out an application.
"Once the fingerprints come back clear, he was able to start calling them and plugging them into the open sub positions at OHS," the spokesperson said. "Anytime, we can connect directly with our parents on an issue we’re struggling with and get them to help it is a win – win."
