Two women were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning on Court Avenue, Des Moines' busy nightlife and bar district.

Foot patrol officers heard suspected gunfire around 1 a.m. from inside a building in the 200 block of Court Avenue, according to a news release from Des Moines police.

There they found two adult women with gunshot wounds. They were treated on scene before being taken to local hospitals. Both are expected to survive, Des Moines police spokesman Sgt. Paul Parizek said in the news release.

Sunday morning's shooting came about two weeks after three people were injured in a shooting in the 200 block of Third Street, which is also in the Historic Court District Neighborhood.
