Just hours after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV, 31-9, over the Kansas City Chiefs, neighbors and city crews were tasked with returning big party spots and the area around Raymond James Stadium to normal.

According to Mark Wilfalk with the Department of Solid Waste, the hardest hit areas were Ybor City, South Howard, and the streets surrounding the stadium.  Wilfalk estimates the Super Bowl cleanup cost at upwards of $50,000.

“That’s not including the labor and equipment thats requited to support a worldwide event like this,” he explained.

City employees found the usual items like bottles, food, and packaging around the city streets. On top of that, officials say they also located a number of masks, clothing items, and flags while cleaning up.

“We saw a couple street signs find their way to the waterways. So when the tide gets a little low, we’ll get in there and pull some of those out,” said Sherisha Hills with Tampa’s Parks and Recreation department.

While much of the trash pick up was completed by the end of Monday, cleanup of the tents, fencing, and large equipment could take up to two weeks.
