Joe Manchin continued his Jekyll and Hyde act today when it comes to taxpayer funding for abortion providers, once again voting to send tax dollars to abortion industry leader Planned Parenthood.
Manchin has come under intense fire from pro-life advocates for his record of supporting taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, despite his insistence to West Virginians that he opposes abortion. The two-faced Senator was also widely mocked last year for posing for pictures with signs saying “We don’t need Planned Parenthood” and “I stand with Planned Parenthood” within weeks of one another, leading his spokesman to say that “any signs he holds bear no relation to his policy positions.”
“Once again, Joe Manchin betrayed the values of West Virginians, voting to send their hard-earned tax dollars to the nation’s largest abortion provider,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “When he’s back home, Manchin continues to try to fool West Virginians into believing he’s pro-life, but when he gets to Washington, he’ll always side with his Democratic Party bosses and the abortion industry.”
